"Little English Cottage"
I had a very good day yesterday!
I watched all four days of the Open Championship that was full of memorable moments we will never see again...thinking about Tiger walking over the bridge on 18 and walking to the green as Rory tipped his cap to him...well, tears came...it was so emotional.
My father was English and Scot-Irish and so the love of the UK resides within me. I have always loved the freedom and wild nature of the English gardens all around the sweet cottages that dot the landscape. So after the end of yesterday's final round I was inspired to paint. I chose to paint a little cottage in the "wonky" style I am learning by an artist through an online course I'm taking. Done in acrylics on a painted black background and using Liquitex paint I've never used before. I worked on this for an hour and a half and had to quit as my brain was getting "wonky" as well! I can only paint that long per session. I did what I am being taught...to have fun and enjoy the freedom of painting imperfectly! No rules...no fussing or going back to improve...just have fun...paint with freedom and it's done. :)
I posted this on FB and the art FB group loves it...that really is the best when you have support doing what you create. It feels so good. I'll choose another "something" soon to paint - I was attracted to this style of painting and so happy I decided to learn how to paint this way.
